From Closed to Open in 3 Months: Northern Log Builds Outdoor Seating Area for Winery

If you’ve ever enjoyed a glass of Lemon Drop iced wine or a bottle of Carribean Queen, then you’ve likely been to Sage Creek Winery. Voted best wine shop in metro Detroit for two years running, Sage Creek is a veteran-owned winery with two locations in Memphis, Michigan, and Mount Clemens, Michigan.

About three years ago, Sage Creek moved into its Memphis location, a historic Masonic Temple building built in 1887. The inside is beautiful, with seating at the bar and at tables. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, indoor dining was restricted in the state of Michigan, which meant the winery could no longer accommodate guests. To keep their winery open, the owners sought to build an outdoor seating area on the side of the building. A contractor referred Sage Creek to Northern Log Supply to supply and install the commercial wood products for the patio.

Northern Log constructed the outdoor seating area using heavy timber Douglas fir beams and 2x6 decking. Black bar railing was also installed around the perimeter. Within three months from the time Sage Creek contacted Northern Log, the outdoor seating area was completed. The outdoor patio is now the perfect place to enjoy a bottle of Puppy Love wine (to support rescue dogs), a glass of Bees Knees (a honey peach white Zinfandel), or a refreshing Honeydew Haze wine slushie.
